Outlet (LAN) user manual

Outlet (LAN) is an Ethernet wall outlet with two ports. It cannot be added to an Ajax system or controlled through an Ajax app. The device has a design and colors identical to those of Ajax smart outlets and switches and can be installed side by side in the same frame.

Design

Outlet (LAN) is a prefabricated device that consists of the following components:

  • Core options:

    • OutletCore (LAN) [55]

    • OutletCore (LAN) vertical [55]

  • Cover options:

    • SoloCover (LAN)

    • CenterCover (LAN)

    • CenterCover (LAN) vertical

    • SideCover (LAN)

    • SideCover (LAN) vertical

  • Frame options:

    • Frame (2 seats)

    • Frame (2 seats) vertical

    • Frame (3 seats)

    • Frame (3 seats) vertical

    • Frame (4 seats)

    • Frame (4 seats) vertical

    • Frame (5 seats)

    • Frame (5 seats) vertical

Choose the appropriate cover for Outlet (LAN) based on your installation plan:

  • as a separate device — SoloCover (LAN);

  • to the right or left (top or bottom) of other Outlet* or LightSwitch devices — SideCover (LAN);

  • between the devices — CenterCover (LAN).

For side-by-side installation of two or more devices, you will also need a frame.

The devices combined in the frame can be installed horizontally or vertically. Only cores, covers, and frames with “vertical” in the name support vertical installation.

* Combinations that include smart outlets are available only in a horizontal orientation.

Colors

The product line includes the covers in 8 colors: white, fog, grey, graphite, ivory, oyster, olive, and black. The Ethernet ports are available in 2 colors: white and black.

Compatible hubs and range extenders

Outlet (LAN) is not compatible with Ajax hubs and range extenders. It is a regular built-in Ethernet outlet that cannot be added to an Ajax system or controlled through an Ajax app.

Operating principle

Outlet (LAN) is an Ethernet wall outlet with two ports. It provides a wired connection for devices to a local area network (LAN) through Ethernet cables. The outlet is compatible with CAT.6 and CAT.5e cables designed to support data transfer speeds up to 1 Gbit/s over a maximum distance of 328 ft.

Installation

To install Outlet (LAN):

  1. De-energize the power cables in close vicinity to the place where Outlet (LAN) will be connected.

  2. Prepare the mounting boxes.

  3. Connect the cables to the Ethernet port terminals according to the following wiring diagram:

    Wiring diagram T568A

    Wiring diagram T568B

  4. Install the Ethernet ports into OutletCore (LAN) [55] or OutletCore (LAN) vertical [55] and install wire covers.

  5. Install OutletCore (LAN) [55] or OutletCore (LAN) vertical [55] in the mounting box. Tighten the screws to secure the mounting claws. Fasten the outlet core using the bundled screws.

  6. When installing multiple outlets or LightSwitch Jeweller switches, mount the frame with the appropriate number of seats.

  7. Install the corresponding covers.

  8. Turn on the power.

Do not install Outlet (LAN):

  1. Outdoors. Doing so may lead to outlet failure.

  2. Inside premises with temperature and humidity levels outside the permissible limits. This may damage the device.

Maintenance

Regularly check the outlet for proper operation. Clean its enclosure to remove dust, cobwebs, and other contaminants as soon as they appear. Use a soft, dry cloth suitable for cleaning electronic equipment. Do not use substances that contain alcohol, acetone, petrol, or other active solvents to clean the device.
